Electricity Tower in Pêro Viseu – Portugal
I painted this mural in July 2021 on an electricity transformation tower in the village of Pêro Viseu near Fundão as part of the EDP Arte Pública Festival. It was quite challenging to get all the distortions and perspectives right but a great experience to get the chance to paint a stand alone structure like this! This painting is based on a photograph by Artur Pastor of an old woman in an old kitchen. A lot of these villages didn’t have electricity until quite late and the arrival of it is definitely within living memory. I enjoyed this contrast of a before and after in a structure that makes this place part of the modern world.
