Estendal Festival, Montemor o Novo – Portugal

“Estendal” was a mural I painted in Santiago do Escoural for Montemor o Novo Municipality. This was the first mural I painted using a whole building and not just a wall, in this case a “lavadouro”, where women used to wash clothes by hand before washing machines were widely available. I used some Portuguese archive photos around this theme and hope to convey some of the hardships and daily talks of women throughout the years.
